Every day, more than 2.7 million people across New South Wales rely on us to deliver safe, reliable electricity to their homes and businesses. With over 1,700 employees across our network, we are one of the largest employers in Greater Western Sydney and one of Australia's fastest-growing electricity networks.

As we connect more than 20,000 new customers each year, including major developments such as the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, we're shaping a smarter, more sustainable energy future. To achieve this, we need talented professionals who are passionate about safety, innovation, collaboration, and delivering outstanding outcomes.

About the Role

As Project Commissioning Lead, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and certifying the safe integration of new or modified utility assets into Endeavour Energy's operational network. Covering electrical, civil, and systems infrastructure, this critical role ensures all assets are thoroughly tested, compliant with performance requirements, and safe to energise before formal handover to Operations.

You will serve as the commissioning authority throughout project delivery, providing assurance that infrastructure is fit for service and meets all technical, safety, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain commissioning plans, including testing scope, sequencing, isolation requirements, resources, and cut-over activities.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary commissioning and testing activities to ensure safe, compliant, and effective system integration.
  • Verify assets meet approved designs, technical standards, and performance requirements prior to energisation.
  • Manage asset handover to Operations, ensuring complete and compliant documentation, test records, manuals, and warranties.
  • Act as the commissioning authority during energisation, ensuring safe execution, procedural compliance, and site control.
  • Identify and drive resolution of commissioning defects and non-conformances before asset acceptance.
  • Contribute to design reviews and Safety-in-Design processes to support practical and safe commissioning outcomes.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor commissioning activities to ensure compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and technical requirements.
  • Provide commissioning assurance and recommendations at key project milestones to confirm readiness for energisation and operational service.

Qualifications, Certifications and Licences

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; or
  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) supported by significant relevant technical experience.

Desirable

  • Qualification in Project Management.

Skills and Experience

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in commissioning, field engineering, maintenance, or related roles within high-voltage utilities, power generation, transmission, distribution, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading commissioning activities for complex brownfield projects involving integration of new assets into live operational systems.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors within site-based project environments.

About Endeavour Energy (NSW)

Endeavour Energy is a safety focused and customer-centred business determined to be the best performing network in Australia.

Our people take great pride in being of service to our communities by efficiently distributing electricity to our customers in a way that is safe, reliable and sustainable.

We manage a $6.2 billion electricity distribution network serving more than a million connected customers, or 2.4 million people, living and working across 24,800 square kilometres in Sydney’s Greater West, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, Illawarra and the South Coast of NSW.

Our network powers Australia’s third largest economy, and includes Sydney’s North West and South West Priority Growth Centres, established in 2005 to house 500,000 new residents over 30 years in suburbs similar in size to Wollongong and Canberra.

The region is also home to Sydney’s proposed second airport.

We’re owned by an Australian-led consortium of institutional investors with world class experience in investing and managing regulated utilities across the globe.

The consortium has a clear objective to create long-term value by efficiently investing in Endeavour Energy’s assets to improve safety and customer outcomes.

The consortium acquired 50.4% ownership of the rights to manage Endeavour Energy’s network assets under a 99 year lease in June 2017. It’s led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), and includes AMP Capital, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation and Qatar Investment Authority.

The NSW Government retains a 49.6% interest and continues to licence safety and reliability.
