GEA is one of the world's leading suppliers of systems and technologies for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Project Buyer to join our Procurement team for the NPE – Nutrition Pant Engineering Division in Belgium.

In this role, you will act as the key Procurement representative within project teams, ensuring that sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing activities contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.

Responsibilities / Tasks

Your Responsibilities:

Project Procurement Management

  • Manage tactical sourcing activities for assigned projects in alignment with procurement strategies and category management guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with approved supplier panels and procurement policies.
  • Support supplier selection, evaluation, and qualification processes.
  • Negotiate commercial conditions within the scope of delegated authority.
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Buyers and Category Managers to secure sourcing support when required.

Purchasing and Order Management

  • Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders.
  • Track supplier order confirmations and delivery schedules.
  • Perform expediting activities to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Resolve operational purchasing issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for suppliers regarding day-to-day procurement activities.

Project Support and Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary Procurement contact for Project Managers, Engineering, Planning, Controlling, and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project discussions from the sales phase through project execution.
  • Ensure project requirements are properly captured and translated into procurement actions.
  • Provide regular updates on procurement progress, risks, costs, and lead times during project meetings and reviews.
  • Work closely with Logistics and Supply Chain teams to manage transportation, import/export, and delivery-related risks.

Contract and Supplier Management

  • Support supplier contract administration and compliance.
  • Contribute to the resolution of invoice discrepancies and supplier-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and procurement master data where applicable.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and share lessons learned from project execution.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience in project procurement will also be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement, preferably within an industrial or project-driven environment.
  • Strong experience in contract management and supplier negotiations.
  • Knowledge of international procurement practices and commercial agreements.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP.
  • Proven project management and cost management capabilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
