TITLE: Project Assistant (Malaria) (FOR MYANMAR NATIONAL ONLY)

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the guidance of Project Coordinator based in Magway, Project Assistant (Malaria) role is to involve in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Malaria project funded by GFATM, under GC7 Country Malaria Grant with the support of Project Coordinator.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Budget Responsibilities: No financial approval
Role Dimensions: Regular contact with project volunteers and beneficiaries
Travel: Frequent (over 12 days per month)
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program Management
- Together with the Project Coordinator, the Post holder is responsible for activity planning, implementation and review to ensure the achievements of malaria project outputs are in accordance with project’s objectives, logical framework in assigned townships of Magway.
- Assist Project Coordinator in planning and preparing work plan and field activities of malaria elimination project.
- Conduct data collection, checking and verification for volunteer activities, and encourage getting daily patient registers from village level to township level and submitting reports to the supervisor as monthly basis
- Work closely with the supervisor to facilitate capacity building training and workshops for malaria volunteers, partners and other variety of stakeholders.
- Assist supervisor in budget estimation, phasing and cash forecasting for assigned project activities.
- To lead in new volunteers recruiting if dropped out, focus on supportive supervision and maintain volunteer performance according to GC7 M&E guidelines and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with staff to ensure effective implementation.
- Liaise with authorities/respective departments and Non-State Actors regarding the project activities as necessary.
- Assist in procurement of materials, supplies and maintenance of project equipment and repair as necessary.
- Participate in project surveys and need assessments as required.
- Coordinate and collaborate with township NMCP focal person and participate in malaria elimination activities such as malaria case reporting, quarterly indent form preparation and submission, investigation and response activities.
- Initiate for identification and mapping of Mobile Migrant Ethnic and Vulnerable populations (MMEVs) of assigned townships in regular interval and submit the updated MMEV information to line manager.
- Support local partner organization’s Malaria Project activities by giving technical support and
participating in partner’s field level activities such as training, volunteer supervisions etc.
- Keep records of activities, and report regularly and as requested on programmed progress.
- Actively support the organization’s efforts towards accountability to beneficiaries, in
Particularly through child participation and complaints & response mechanisms.
- Take steps to ensure that the programmed benefits the poorest and most disadvantaged community, especially MMEVs.
- Assist and support to malaria Project Coordinator for the case notification and case investigation, foci investigation and surveillance activities and so on.
- Organize the various project intervention campaigns such as distribution of LLINs, Active Case Detection and Mass Malaria Screening with participation of ICMVs and community.
- To assist and support Project Coordinator for case estimation, drug consumption, to manage key commodities not to stock out according to project and donor guidelines in order to avoid risk of expiry, damage and health hazards at village level
Others
- The candidate must have the flexibility of responsibility according to the project’s needs i.e. SCI is working in a constantly changing humanitarian and development aid environment, reasonable specific work duties may be requested that may not fit into the above responsibilities, but which will help promote overall programs goals and aims.
- Need to regular reporting to line manager related with current malaria project activities such as participatory work plan, achievement reports and so on.
- Assist and participate in any necessary tasks related to program and operational sides assigned by line managers.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Any graduates
- Minimum 2 years working experience in health-related programs or/and in public health programs preferably Malaria programs.
- Professional working experience with international organizations preferable.
- Due to the nature of the program, local candidates who know the context of project locations are preferable.
- Good communication skills and/ or social mobilization skills.
- Willingness to travel and night-stop at field project villages, and work in difficult and challenging working environment with limited support.
- Experience and knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Sensitivity to the cultural & political environment, with the experience of working in conflict- affected areas.
- Experience of working in a team/ willing to work with team.
- Adaptable and practical, diplomatic skills and behaviors.
- Sensitivity to the cultural & political environment, and ability to learn about these.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Well-known local context and well use local language
- Can drive well on motorbikes.
- Willing to travel very remote area.
