Job Description

BC Assessment is currently looking for a permanent Project Assistant to join the ITS Support Team at the Uptown office in Victoria! This entry-level position is great for someone looking to start their career within project management or business analysis and is looking to grow!

  • Location: Victoria, BC – Uptown

  • Hybrid Work: Minimum 3 days per week in office

  • Compensation: $59,991.92 - $70,482.19*

  • Competition Close Date: Thursday September 3, 2026 @ 11:59PM

This position is included in the bargaining unit.

*The compensation range above is based on the salary schedule outlined in the CUPE 1767 Collective Agreement Successful candidates typically start at the minimum of the range (Step 1), with the opportunity to receive an increment after 12 months of service.

Who you are

Reporting to the Lead Business Analyst, the Project Assistant provides support in areas such as project management, contract management, budget and forecasting activities and general ITS administration.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and has excellent communication, analytical thinking, problem solving and time management skills. You are knowledgeable in contract, vendorand project management practices and eager to share your knowledge.

What you’ll get to do

  • Creates purchase requests/purchase orders for contracts, maintaining a library of contract documents in accordance with BCA policies.

  • Process vendor and customer invoices and follow up as necessary.

  • Assist in drafting agreements and client forms using standard templates.

  • Tracks expenditures by cost, maintaining a log of all invoices and financial status of each contract, with charges correctly allocated against each project.

  • Provides administrative support to the project teams and management, including organizing meetings, maintaining project records, and information.

  • Identifies changes in status, timelines, projections, and resources that present risks and opportunities through the continual review of the project plan and reports.

  • Assisting the project manager with budgeting and filing financial reports.

  • Writing and distributing project-related messages and status updates.

  • Designs and produce executive/stakeholder presentations, informational brochures, public education material, or other promotional materials.

  • Provides training on project administrative and software tools, templates, and procedures to other staff.

  • Sets up and maintainsSharePoint Online repositories.

  • Recommends project administration standards and practices.

What you bring to the team

Education

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.

  • Completion of courses in project management such as an introductory course in project management.

Experience

  • 1 year of experience providing project management support services.

  • 2 years of experience providing general administrative related duties to senior management and/or executive.

  • Experience with contract administration.

  • Intermediate experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook .

  • Preferred experience with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, MS Project, and Visio.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
