UNESCO supports the Government of Uzbekistan in advancing high-quality, inclusive, and equitable education through its comprehensive Education Programme. Working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education (MoPSE) and other national partners, UNESCO focuses on strengthening teacher professional development, improving learning environments, promoting competency-based education (CBE), and advancing the use of ICT and digital learning for transformative and sustainable education outcomes.
Across multiple initiatives, such as the ISHONCH funded projects ““Empowering Education in Uzbekistan” and the joint ISDB/ISFD/GPE SMART-ED Project for Improving the Quality and Efficiency of Education Services in the Republic of Uzbekistan, UNESCO provides technical assistance for policy development, capacity-building, curriculum and teacher education reforms, and the enhancement of both pre-service and in-service teacher training systems. This work aims to equip educators with the skills, tools, and resources needed to deliver learner-centred, inclusive, and future-ready education, with particular attention to the needs of vulnerable learners, rural communities, and disadvantaged groups.
To support the effective implementation of activities under the Education Programme, UNESCO is seeking a committed Project Assistant who will work under the overall guidance of the Senior Project Officer and in close collaboration with the project team. The incumbent will provide administrative, financial, and programmatic support related to the planning, coordination, and delivery of education activities, ensuring compliance with UNESCO’s rules and regulations and contributing to the achievement of individual project results.
Under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Tashkent Office and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Officer (Education), an incumbent will be responsible for providing assistance through delivery of a range of project and administrative activities in support of the projects.

UNESCO - the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on 16 November 1945. For this specialized United Nations agency, it is not enough to build classrooms in devastated countries or to publish scientific breakthroughs. Education, Social and Natural Science, Culture and Communication are the means to a far more ambitious goal : to build peace in the minds of women and men.
