Project Application Engineer

Location: Thomasville, NC

Division: Nordfab

Department: Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Type: Project-Based, approximately 18 months

Position Overview

Nordfab is seeking a Project Application Engineer to support the implementation of an Automated Guided Vehicle/Forklift (AGV/AGF) project at our Thomasville, NC manufacturing facility.

This hands-on role will support the installation, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing performance of automated equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This position is expected to last approximately 18 months, with the potential for full-time employment upon successful project completion and based on business needs. The selected candidate will complete approximately 1 to 2 months of initial training in Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support onsite deployment, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of AGV/AGF systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and track project status.
  • Maintain project documentation and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Assist with project schedules, milestones, and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to key stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement of automated equipment and processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, AGV/AGF systems, forklifts, or industrial equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to travel for training and project-related activities.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
