Our Çayırova Production Site is one of our key facilities, specializing in sulfation processes and operating low and high-temperature reactors that serve diverse chemical industries. The site plays a vital role in producing Personal and Home Care products, contributing to everyday life worldwide.

We are looking for a Project and Contract Engineer to manage investment projects, plant modifications, maintenance-related engineering activities, and contractor operations at our production site. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of engineering projects in line with BASF standards and local regulations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in project engineering, plant modification, and/or contract management within industrial or chemical production environments
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
  • Strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills
  • A proactive and structured working style with a strong safety mindset
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including contractors and internal teams
  • Fluency in English and Turkish
  • Residence on Istanbul’s Asian side or in Kocaeli, or willingness to relocate to this region

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Project & Plant Modification Management

  • Cost estimation, planning, execution, commissioning, documentation, and reporting of investment projects and plant modification works.
  • Planning, execution, and follow-up of major repairs, shutdowns, and planned turnaround activities related to projects and plant modifications.
  • Implementation of BASF guidelines, procedures, standards, and applicable project and plant modification management processes.
  • Execution and documentation of approved plant modifications in accordance with Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
  • Definition of project scope, timelines, and milestones; monitoring progress of site works and commissioning activities, and preparation of punch lists.
  • Preparation of technical specifications and providing engineering support for equipment and service procurement activities.
  • Ensuring P&IDs and related technical documentation are kept up to date.
  • Preparation of engineering field reports and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Supporting the EHS department in risk assessments, safety reviews, and process safety analyses (e.g. HAZOP and Clean Sheet Review).

Contract & Contractor Management

  • Manage site contracts related to maintenance, construction, and engineering activities.
  • Ensure contractor and subcontractor compliance with BASF rules, procedures, safety standards, and site requirements.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve contractor performance and capabilities.
  • Coordinate BASF employees working with contractors to ensure efficient and safe collaboration on site.
  • Support the procurement department during tendering and contract negotiation processes.
  • Ensure continuous, transparent, and documented information flow between BASF and contractor companies.

Maintenance

  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance-related engineering activities in close cooperation with maintenance teams.
  • Provide engineering input for major maintenance works, shutdowns, and turnaround activities
  • Ensure maintenance works executed by contractors comply with BASF standards, safety rules, and quality requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and follow-up actions for major equipment, utilities, and maintenance-related incidents.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance practices, workflows, and technical reliability.
