Job Description

At Downer, we're delivering one of our most significant workforce transformation programs, MyTime + MyPay, designed to improve the experience of our people and create more efficient, consistent ways of working across the business.

This is a 2-year maximum-term opportunity to join a high-profile transformation program and play a key role in shaping the future of workforce management and payroll processes across Downer

As a Project Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of a major transformation stream. Working closely with stream leaders, stakeholders, and delivery teams, you'll bring structure, visibility, and momentum to complex initiatives, ensuring priorities are clear, dependencies are managed, and delivery remains on track.

This role is ideal for an emerging project professional looking to take the next step in their project management career. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, work effectively with a high degree of autonomy, and be passionate about delivering outcomes through effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and disciplined project delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end planning, coordination, and delivery of transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with program objectives, timelines, and key dependencies.
  • Facilitate planning, governance, and delivery forums to drive accountability, collaboration, and progress across the stream.
  • Maintain project schedules, roadmaps, milestones, backlogs, and delivery artefacts to support effective execution.
  • Monitor and report on delivery progress, risks, issues, dependencies, resource capacity, and outcomes, providing timely insights to stakeholders and program leadership.
  • Partner with business and project stakeholders to align priorities, manage expectations, and ensure successful delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance, reporting, and visual management practices to provide clear visibility of delivery status and priorities.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks, constraints, and resource bottlenecks to support successful program outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning accuracy, delivery discipline, team effectiveness, and ways of working.
  • Promote and uphold Downer's Zero Harm culture by supporting safe, sustainable, and people-focused delivery practices.

What You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated experience supporting project, program, or transformation delivery within complex organisational environments, with a strong understanding of Agile delivery principles, sprint planning, and iterative ways of working.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities, stakeholders, and delivery activities while managing schedules, dependencies, risks, issues, and reporting in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across teams without direct authority.
  • Highly developed planning, organisational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, supported by strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to driving outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in project delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Business, or a related discipline are highly regarded.
  • Experience in large-scale transformation programs, particularly within HR, payroll, workforce management, or consulting environments, will be advantageous.
