What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is seeking a Part Time Project Advisor to join our Overland Park office in a remote capacity. This position is designed for an experienced engineering or science professional who can contribute meaningful technical expertise on a part-time basis of 20 hours per week. Limited travel may be required.

How you can make an impact

Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

• Plan, develop, and execute engineering or scientific projects addressing complex or specialized problems, including research, scoping, solution development, and implementation.
• Serve in a lead role on projects and proposals, contributing technical expertise in areas of unconventional scope or specialty.
• Conceive and conduct independent or team projects requiring novel approaches, specialized knowledge, or research.
• Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and guidance to engineers, scientists, and technicians across offices.

Business Development & Client Relations

• Participate in proposals, interviews, and other business development activities in a support or lead capacity.
• Win and support projects across offices, serving as both a technical resource and client-facing advisor.
• Maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, acting independently on technical matters within area of expertise.

Knowledge Sharing & Innovation

• Mentor and guide staff across offices within area(s) of expertise.
• Contribute to the development of new methods, processes, or technical approaches through project work and research.
• Prepare technical articles for publication and present at industry conferences, as applicable.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or science (biology, geology, environmental, or related field); MS or Ph.D. preferred.
• Professional registration required — PE licensure for engineers; relevant scientific registration where required or available.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience in engineering or environmental services.
• Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Limited travel availability as project needs require

Pay Range

USD $53.00 - USD $55.00 /Hr.
