Job Description

Our client, a growing construction company on Long Island, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with construction industry experience who is looking to grow within a stable and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 3+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry and a strong understanding of project accounting processes. Experience with AIA billing, WIP schedules, job costing, and project cost tracking would be highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project accounting functions for multiple active construction projects
  • Prepare and process AIA billing and related documentation
  • Maintain and analyze WIP schedules and job cost reporting
  • Track project costs, budgets, and change orders
  • Assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations
  • Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Support AP, AR, and subcontractor payment processing related to projects
  • Assist with financial reporting and ad hoc analysis as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 3+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry
  • Experience with AIA billing strongly preferred
  • Experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and project cost accounting highly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
