Project Accountant

Department: Finance & Legal

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Hershey Office


The Project Accountant primary responsibility is to support the financial management of solar construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, billing, and cost tracking. The Project Accountant works closely with Project Managers and leadership to ensure projects are financially controlled, accurately reported, and aligned with company objectives. This role also plays a key part in maintaining strong client relationships through accurate and timely financial communication.

Responsibilities

Project Financial Management:

  • Set up projects in accounting systems, including budgets and schedules of values
  • Provide financial reports, forecasts, and budget updates to Project Managers and clients
  • Prepare and distribute job cost analysis reports

Billing & Revenue Tracking:

  • Prepare monthly billings, including AIA billing and lien waivers
  • Track receivables and support collection efforts
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on change orders and contract billing requirements

Project Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze project financials monthly with Project Managers
  • Support project closeout and financial reporting processes
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of project financial data

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Prior experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or similar financial role
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to learn and adapt to project accounting software
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or project-based accounting
  • Experience with Procore or similar project management/accounting systems
  • Experience with AIA billing processes
