We are looking for an experienced Progress OpenEdge Developer to join our development team and contribute to the evolution of our core application serving our Group Insurance customers. You will work on a critical system that supports end to end processes such as contract management, claims handling, customer communication, and reporting. You are familiar with an agile environment and are used to work with Scrum methodology.
The application interacts closely with our customer-facing frontend, MWP, and a part of your mission will also be to ensure smooth, reliable communication and integration between OpenEdge services and MWP components.
What does your job as a Progress OpenEdge Developer look like?
Develop, enhance, and maintain functionalities in our Progress OpenEdge v12.8 environment
Translate business requirements into solid, maintainable technical solutions
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, ensuring stability and continuity of services
Collaborate closely with MWP front-end developers to maintain and evolve integration points (APIs, data flows, validations)
Work within Azure DevOps to contribute to CI/CD pipelines for build and deployment automation
Use Azure Boards to manage tasks, sprints, user stories, and delivery progress
Participate in modernization initiatives, including API development and architectural improvements
Ensure proper documentation and consistent application of coding best practices
Support performance optimization and continuous improvement efforts across the system
This is how you fit perfectly into our team
Proven experience in Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL, preferably with version 12.8
Good understanding of relational databases (Progress RDBMS experience is a plus)
Experience with incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support
Familiarity with API integrations, REST services, or other middleware technologies
Ability to collaborate effectively with front-end teams and understand end-to-end application flows
Experience working in complex enterprise environments
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Experience in the insurance or financial services sector is a significant asset
Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is mandatory
