The opportunity

We have two exciting opportunities available for passionate Programs Leads to join the NSW EPA, one in our Organics Programs team and one in our Resource Recovery, Infrastructure and Partnerships team.

These roles will lead the development and implementation of divisional projects and programs that support enhance environmental sustainability through delivery of state-wide programs.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Knowledge and experience in the implementation of programs targeting a range of stakeholders including the waste and recycling industry, businesses, local government, the not-for-profit sector and the community.
• Experience leading the design, delivery, administration and evaluation of grant funding programs using best practice.
• Sound understanding of the workings of government at a state and local level.
• Experience in liaising with a range of client/stakeholder groups to deliver environmentally sustainable outcomes, with a good understanding of the existing practices in industry, local government, not for profit sector and the community and developing strategies to meet their needs within the context of government priorities.
• Experience leading teams and people management skills.

Organics Programs team (Temporary to Mid-August 2027)

The Organics Programs team is responsible for designing and delivering programs that help halve organic waste sent to landfill and achieve net zero emissions from organic waste in landfill by 2030.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading programs, projects and teams to design, deliver and evaluate environmental grant programs.

Resource Recovery, Infrastructure and Partnerships team (Temporary to 30 June 2028)

The Resource Recovery, Infrastructure and Partnerships team is responsible for working with Local Government, businesses and other organisations to divert waste from landfill and grow the NSW Circular Economy. We are passionate about working with our partners to deliver real world outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams to deliver environmental programs and experience in grant management using best practice. Knowledge of circular economy also highly desirable.
