The requirements

SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
Education: Bachelor in Engineer, Masters in Structural Engineer or construction management preferred, PMP in project management
Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction, predominantly in infrastructure development or real estate with emphasis on housing project in urban and rural area. Experience in social sector is preferred. Overseas experience would be added advantage.
Skills:
Technical Skill:

  • Able to create Gantt charts and structural design.
  • Able to understand construction quality assurance and control parameters.
  • Able to understand green construction, cooling solutions & energy efficient measures, renewable energy solutions.
  • Working knowledge of design software like AutoCAD and latest CAD software
  • Able to understand community development parameters.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of building codes for India for various seismic zones.
  • Documentations for Projects for the reference of Donors, Regulatory authorities, and beneficiaries.
  • Research skills to identify latest design practices and technology in green building.

The position

JOB SCOPE:
To lead team in design & implementation of new construction and repair projects in housing, institutes and infrastructure.
To establish best practice in planning, designing and construction of infrastructure projects.
To lead team in technical review of housing and infrastructure design.
To suggest/provide alternative (innovative) solution for infrastructure development and improvement
To cater to need of user group with respect to organisations best practice.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring AKDN quality standards in all civil and infrastructural projects.
  • Responsible for all project management: Ensuring resource, cost, time and energy efficiency in all new constructions and existing repair and review projects.
  • Responsible for infrastructure design & construction solutions for new projects.
  • Responsible for technical review of all infrastructure projects received for review.
  • Responsible for recommending alternative technologies for construction, waste management and energy efficiency.
  • Responsible for technical supervision and review of all pilot projects in alternative technologies under implementation.
  • Responsible for assessing infrastructure needs (through Rapid Structural Diagnosis or structural audit).
  • Responsible for optimizing resources planning and utilization for clients and organizations.
  • Provide technical support to housing development and environmental planning team.
  • Support in cross functional departmental exercise.
  • Responsible for facilitation and handling audits of regulatory authorities.
  • Responsible for liaising with various agencies and government officials
  • Provide technical inputs in projects based on community’s need and preferences
  • Responsible for providing support to research in construction-based projects
  • Responsible for standardising processes and documentation of good practices.
  • Responsible for efficient team management and timely delivery of projects undertaken
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for new projects and infrastructure needs.
  • Responsible for contributing to organisational development needs.
  • Responsible for organisational commitments.
  • Support Preparation of yearly budgets and new proposals
