Job Description

Cell and gene therapies are changing what is possible in medicine. Cellular Origins exists to solve a specific part of that puzzle: how to manufacture these therapies reliably, safely, and at meaningful scale.

As Chief Operating Officer, you’ll design and run the operating system that takes our platform from engineering achievement to dependable capital equipment installed in real facilities across Europe and the US. You’ll be accountable for how our systems are built, delivered, installed, and supported, so that customers can trust them on their most critical manufacturing lines.

You’ll join at a pivotal moment. The technology is proven, the opportunity is global, and the next step is disciplined, confident execution. This role gives you the remit and the resources to build an operations organisation that matches that ambition.

Cell therapies are transforming the treatment of devastating diseases like cancer, autoimmune disease, neurological disease and more by reprogramming a patient’s own immune system. This brings hope where there was none before. But to make these life-saving treatments available to more patients, we need a revolution in manufacturing and automation. That’s where you fit in.

At Cellular Origins, we’re enabling the manufacture of cell therapies at scale. Our Constellation platform uses mobile robotics and intelligent automation to automate and connect existing bioprocess tools, so therapies can scale without being re-developed. The work you do here helps systems land, run, and deliver in the real world, where patient impact becomes possible.

This Programme Manager role is based on the customer project site in Philadelphia, USA. It’s all about delivery on the ground, supporting the installation of a major capital system and keeping day-to-day operations moving. It’s less about writing project briefs and requirements, more about making sure the plan is delivered, the site is ready, and the install, commissioning, and handover happen smoothly.

Qualifications

You’ll join our customer delivery work at a practical moment, supporting a single, high-impact deployment and growing into being the primary point of contact as the project commences. You’ll be the person who brings clarity when there are lots of moving parts and keeps actions unblocked. From the outset, you’ll be tasked with securing the confidence of the customer and our internal teams.

What you’ll do

You’ll help turn a complex automation install into a predictable, well-run delivery, with everyone aligned on what happens next.

  • Own and run the delivery plan for an active customer installation, keeping it current, useful, and trusted
  • Work closely with the Operations Lead to keep install activity aligned day to day, bringing in the right experts at the right moments
  • Execution & Monitoring: Act as the trusted partner to our customers, ensuring their priorities are understood, communicated, and relentlessly delivered
  • Completion & Handover: Oversee documentation, validation, and commissioning to ensure every programme ends with complete customer satisfaction
  • Maintain and evolve programme schedules, budgets, and forecasts across internal and customer teams

About you

You’re someone who’s delivered real projects, not just plans. You like being close to the action, where the details matter and progress needs to be earned. You’re calm under pressure, good at building trust, and you enjoy bringing order to complex delivery without losing momentum.

Key requirements

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), ideally in a STEM subject
  • Proven experience on delivery and installation of large capital programmes in life sciences
  • PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project or programme management qualification (preferred)
  • Experience delivering into large organisations, and navigating the complexity that comes with them
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering complex automation programmes on accelerated timescales
  • Strong stakeholder skills, especially in customer organisations, with a natural ability to build trust
  • Comfortable assimilating complex information and helping teams make clear decisions
  • Confident using tools like MS Office and Project, Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, or similar

Additional Information

Benefits

  • We’ll provide a competitive benefits package including a 401k pension plan. Further details will be shared in the early stages of the interview process.

If you’re excited by the idea of being on site in Philadelphia, getting complex automation installed, commissioned, and delivering scalable cell therapy manufacturing, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now.

Every application will be reviewed by the hiring team and will receive a response.
