An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead delivery of a critical part of the Grow Combat strategy within the ambitious and fast-paced GCAP programme. In this VP role, you will be accountable for providing project leadership and direction for major subsystems of the GCAP Power & Propulsion System, including technology development, demonstration, rig verification, product development and industrialisation.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing day-to-day programme leadership for a large and diverse project team, developing novel products and capabilities.
  • Creating a high performing and engaged team, setting mindset and culture expectations through modelling Rolls-Royce Behaviours and Values.
  • Overseeing development of an integrated and complete set of roadmaps for your subsystems including technology development, system demonstration, product delivery, industrialisation and in-service.
  • Working with your team of dedicated Programme Managers, lead and accelerate delivery through planning, commitment and execution of technical work packages to the required schedule, cost and quality requirements.
  • Holding schedule, budget and risk accountability including integration with wider GCAP programmes and reporting to internal customers.
  • Defining ways of working for your team, including planning, risk, programme execution approach (e.g. agile and waterfall) and compliance with required wider Programme Governance and Quality Systems.
  • Work across business functions to secure delivery resources, working closely with function, capability and business unit stakeholders. Manage deployment of these resources within your team to support programme priorities and key commitments.
  • Leading the team to relentlessly improve and accelerate delivery by removing impediments and developing operational improvements

Position qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leadership and delivery in fast-paced product development context including experience in complex hardware projects.
  • Able to think strategically to maximise programme benefits realisation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong personal philosophy for what makes great teams.
  • Cultural awareness to manage relationships across diverse international teams, partners and customers.

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience in technology development, new product introduction and industrialisation programme lifecycle phases
  • Experience in developing and deploying programme governance systems to provide robust control, maximum productivity and team empowerment

This role will require you to hold a Developed Vetting (DV). To start, you will require a minimum Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.

Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
