About the role:
The Programme Coordinator will support the implementation of a flagship programme aimed at building science capital among secondary school students across 25 government schools Working closely with teachers, students, and community stakeholders, the Coordinator will facilitate targeted STEM and gender-sensitive activities, and ensure the delivery of foundational learning initiatives to build students' aspirations and reduce dropout risks.

Key Responsibilities

1. School-Level Programme Implementation

  • Facilitate in-person sessions on gender, life skills, and STEM aspirations through workshops, dialogue circles, blended modules, and reflection activities for students.
  • Support teachers in integrating gender-responsive pedagogies into Mathematics, Science, and Language classrooms to strengthen participation and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure effective distribution, access, and utilization of programme materials including handbooks, worksheets, assessments, STEM kits, and digital learning tools.
  • Conduct monthly reflection circles with teachers and structured student engagement sessions to reinforce programme concepts.
  • Establish and mentor student peer groups, gradually transitioning ownership so groups function independently by the second year.
  • Implement Vulnerability and STEM Potential Mapping tools to identify students requiring additional academic or socio-emotional support.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & School Ecosystem Strengthening

  • Conduct orientations and periodic review meetings with Head Teachers and teachers to strengthen programme adoption and classroom implementation.
  • Facilitate structured engagements with parents, School Management Committees (SMCs), and community stakeholders to build support for gender-equitable learning environments.
  • Coordinate exposure visits, guest sessions, and role-model interactions to expand student awareness of educational and career pathways.
  • Support school leadership in embedding programme practices into school routines, plans, and review mechanisms.

3. Monitoring, Data Collection & Quality Assurance

  • Administer baseline and endline assessments and ensure accurate recording and submission of programme data.
  • Conduct classroom observations and field monitoring visits to assess fidelity of implementation and identify improvement areas.
  • Maintain student-level and school-level data related to participation, performance, attendance, and engagement indicators.
  • Share weekly progress updates with reporting managers and flag implementation challenges for timely resolution.
  • Document field insights, change stories, and challenges using prescribed formats to inform programme learning.

4. Community Engagement & Local Systems Strengthening

  • Organize quarterly community dialogues with local leaders, youth groups, and women's collectives to strengthen local ownership of programme goals.
  • Encourage adolescent participation in community-based initiatives linked to leadership, equity, and STEM awareness.
  • Build local networks of resource persons and institutions to sustain programme activities beyond direct implementation.

5. Coordination & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with district teams and internal programme staff to ensure timely execution of activities and adherence to implementation plans.
  • Coordinate schedules with schools and stakeholders to align programme delivery with academic calendars and local priorities.
  • Maintain continuous communication with school staff, community representatives, and programme teams to ensure smooth operations.

Eligibility & Skill Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in teaching, education programmes, or gender-focused initiatives.
  • Contextual Knowledge: Sound knowledge of government and government-aided schools in Telangana.
  • Classroom Engagement: Demonstrated ability to work effectively on school premises alongside teachers.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven capacity to work with a range of stakeholders, including schools, community leaders, donors, and NGOs on advocacy initiatives.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Languages: High competency in written and verbal English and Telugu
  • Mobility: Willingness to work flexibly and travel regularly across assigned schools/blocks.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and group facilitation skills.
  • Background in community organizing, advocacy, or social justice work, particularly around gender issues.
  • Experience developing educational resources, teaching-learning materials, or research briefs.
  • Awareness of current research, policy, and evaluation trends in education.
  • Passion for creative problem-solving, resilience, patience, and a good sense of humor.
