Position: Program Support Team Leader – AOD Services

Location: Red Hill, Moonyah

Classification: SCHADS 6

Full Time- able to also be on call when required

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

The role

As our Program Support Team Leader, you’ll be the powerhouse behind a committed Support Worker team—ensuring every client receives consistent, person‑centred, recovery‑focused care.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing Support Workers
  • Overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training and performance
  • Building strong rosters and ensuring seamless shift coverage
  • Creating safe, structured and meaningful daily routines
  • Contributing actively to the leadership team
  • Managing risk, responding to incidents and maintaining accurate records
  • Driving client participation and continuous improvement
  • Supporting staff through behavioural challenges
  • Keeping community duties and program routines running smoothly
  • Providing supervision, coaching and reflective practice
  • Supporting staff with goal setting and professional growth
  • Monitoring wellbeing, safety and performance
  • Participating in the on‑call roster
  • Reviewing data, feedback and outcomes to strengthen practice
  • Reporting progress to the Centre Manager

💡 What You Will Bring

  • A degree in social work, welfare, community development or related field OR extensive sector experience with proven capability
  • Experience in AOD, community services or a related field
  • Demonstrated staff supervision and leadership experience
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Current Driver’s Licence

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
