The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Program Support Officer to join our Murray Riverina Regional Delivery team. We are seeking someone who has the capability to deliver high quality administrative, contract management and business support services to the work group in a fast-paced, outcome focused environment. In addition, you will provide essential administrative support to the Regional Manager and the Murray Riverina Team.

About the role

As the Program Support Officer you will:

  • Deliver high quality program support services to the workgroup including processing receipt of, acknowledgement of, and data entry of applications, reports and landholder communications; collation and drafting of correspondence; formatting of program documentation; financial administration support in relation to payments; receiving, sorting and prioritising incoming correspondence with a high level of accuracy.
  • Implement systems that optimise efficiency and effectively manage and maintain accurate program information, including data entry, records management and reporting. Ensure information is stored in accordance with Open Government principles.
  • Provide professional and timely logistical support to meetings, committees, working parties, workshops, information sessions and forums including invitations, venues, audio-visual equipment, travel arrangements, collation of materials for presentation, circulation of agendas and taking and distribution of minutes for meetings.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and information sharing and to direct enquiries appropriately
  • Play a key role in work, health and safety systems by tracking and supporting field staff.

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in project coordination or business support role, demonstrating administration and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, coupled with strong problem‑solving skills
  • Prior government experience is desirable

The New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body, established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment.

The Trust’s roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land, guided by the government’s Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of, appreciation and understanding of, biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) and the BCT’s private land conservation (PLC) programs

The successful applicant for this role will be required to declare any conflict of interests related to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, as defined in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Conflict of Interests Protocol. This ensures the department is made aware of potential conflicts of interest so they can be appropriately managed.

Where an applicant has a high-risk “defined interest” in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, they may be required to divest this interest before being employed by the department.
