Program Support - Aquatics

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking candidates for Program Support (Aquatics) to assist in aquatic programs and customer service support at Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center. Ideal candidates will have a background in aquatics and feel comfortable assisting in program administration. The district also offers a bilingual pay incentive to staff who regularly utilize their bilingual skills!

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate activities to meet program objectives, including developing work plans and schedules.
  • Develop and implement program curriculum and provide direction to part-time staff.
  • Coordinate center activities with other District programs and external agencies, serving as a liaison to program committees, private industry, and the community.
  • Foster a program atmosphere that promotes inclusion and ensures a positive experience for participants.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a combination of experience and training equivalent to:

  • Two years in an aquatic specialty area.
  • Completion of high school (twelfth grade) plus two years of specialized training equivalent to college coursework.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Other Requirements

  • Current Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record (see Driver Eligibility Requirements below).

Scheduling

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday, depending on center needs. To support aquatic programming and facility supervision, the work hours will be as follows:

Tuesday-Saturday

  • Tuesday-Friday: Work hours fall between 6am-5pm
  • Saturday: Work hours fall between 8am-8pm

Sunday-Thursday

  • Sunday: Work hours fall between 9am-8pm
  • Monday-Thursday: Work hours fall between 6am-5pm

The desired start date for this position is November 2026.

Part-time employees are scheduled variable hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year. Seasonal employees may be scheduled 40 hours per week for a maximum duration of 6 months.

Pay Rate

$27.84 to $31.38 hourly (based on experience and internal equity). Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Driving Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to drive for THPRD, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have fewer than 3 vehicle accidents within the last 5 years
  • Have fewer than 4 moving violations and/or vehicle accidents combined within the last 5 years
  • Have no more than 1 DUIs within the last 5 years WITH the successful completion of a diversion program.

If you exceed the above requirements within the last 5 years, you will not be eligible to drive for THPRD. If the position requires driving, you would not be eligible for the position. Click here to view the driver acceptability matrix.

Note: Driving eligibility is based on moving violations only. Parking tickets, failure to have insurance, expired registration, and other administrative violations are excluded.
