The Program Safety Officer’s (PSO) primary responsibility is to promote and ensure a safe environment throughout the Colorado Program. The PSO will develop, coordinate, and implement Safety plans, including policies and procedures. The PSO’s Secondary Responsibility will be to assist the QA and Training manager in leading the station mentoring program. The PSO will strive to promote and ensure effective safe operations throughout the Colorado Program.
· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
· Partners with Human Resources in maintaining the OSHA safety log and other administrative requirements related to safety operations and regulations.
· Ensures compliance with company safety policy while also ensuring compliance with federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, and codes.
· Helps locations update and maintain their MSDS(SDS) binders and check for compliance.
· Through developed audits and check points, ensures all locations are up to date in all required postings and notices.
· Provides technical and administrative support to the QA and Training Manager and Operations Manager.
· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems. Develop plans to raise awareness of safety concerns and implement those plans.
· Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
· Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
· Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
· Reviews of accident and incident reports. Helps support the HR group in gathering documentation post-accident to submit to WC- Insurance
· Frequent station and roadside visits to do walk throughs, audits and conduct safety interventions
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Some college or technical school preferred.
· Experience working in fast paced environment.
· Experience working in an Emission testing facility recommended.
Qualifications
· Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable regulations.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to conduct training and Safety counseling sessions.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, track record of following timelines/deadlines.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Experience in and around an industrial workplace.
· Proven history of personally working in a safe environment adhering to PPE requirements.
· Periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Ability to pass an MVR check to travel throughout network in company vehicles as required to conduct safety inspections.
