Position is based at Submarine Base - Bangor, WA. Mission System Support Team has an opening for a highly motivated Program Representative who will serve as the Availability Lead in support of the USS Jimmy Carter SSN23, Multi Mission Systems (MMS).

Assignments and responsibilities include:

  • Acquisition Duties: Determining long-range and short-range needs for resources, such as manpower, materials, equipment, staff support, etc.
  • Technical Duties: Taking or recommending appropriate actions which may have significant impact on schedule and cost.
  • Conducting various meetings which may include customer briefings to ensure an accurate flow of information regarding schedule and material issues.
  • Initiating changes in work priorities and program emphasis to support the work schedule.
  • Managing material and resources to ensure proper execution and recommending cost-saving improvement.
  • Supervisory Duties: Directing and assuring the success of the assigned segment of the overhaul by direct liaison with all levels of management through subordinate levels of supervision.
  • Managing all assigned work crews along with Coordinating the efforts of various contractors to assure successful completion of the assigned tasking.
  • Implementing policy developed at higher levels and assigning or holding responsible those personnel accountable for proper execution of work.

The successful candidate must be willing to learn and understand the Navy’s supply system, EB Oracle parts system, EB DLDR (SPARS), EB record keeping, Navy's tag out process, JFMM requirements, Quality Assurance, configuration management, and adapt to evolving information technology.

Candidate must also be willing to go on business trips as needed - approximately 5 - 10 % of year

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in military, shipbuilding, ship repair, or manufacturing industry is required. Navy submarine retiree satisfies this requirement.
  • Must have active DoD TS clearance (SCI eligible).

Desired attributes

  • Experience as Engineering/Ships Duty Officer or Engineering/Ships Duty Chief.
  • A working knowledge of the material requisitioning processes, material control processes, material control standards, material configuration management, work execution methods, work planning requirements, methods & certification processes used by the USN.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills under minimal supervision.
  • Provide daily oversight and direction to subcontractors.
  • Inspect work sites for conformance to Safety and Quality Standards.
  • Read electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.
  • Familiarity with both electrical and mechanical workmanship standards is a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multiple technical organizations, program offices, USN and government personnel.
