Job Description

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. For over 50 years, it has focused on providing high-quality, low-cost health care solutions, training health workers, and strengthening health systems.

Jhpiego has been working in India since the 1980s in close partnership with national and state governments. With deep technical expertise and strong on-the-ground execution, Jhpiego helps design, test, and scale practical solutions and innovations that fit real-world systems across 11 thematic domains (Maternal and Newborn Health, Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Immunization, Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Human Resources for Health, TB and Infectious Diseases, Global Health Security, Women's Cancers, Non-Communicable Diseases, Digital Health).

Jhpiego India seeks a Strategic Communications and Engagement Officer to strengthen organisational visibility, donor communication, and digital presence across itsprogrammes in India. The Officer will work across programme teams to develop high-quality communication assets, lead digital and social media strategy, and translate technical health content into accessible, audience-appropriate formats for funders, government counterparts, and institutional partners. The role requires both analytical rigour and design sensibility, with the ability to shift register fluidly across internal knowledge products, external advocacy materials, and donor-facing deliverables.Candidates holding a clinical degree alongside a Masters in Public Health are particularly well-positioned for this role, given the depth of technical understanding required tocommunicate programme results credibly to sophisticated health and financing audiences.

Responsibilities

Storytelling & Visual Communication

  • Develop high-quality visual and written content for maternal and newborn health, cancer, family health, and health systems programmes — using tools including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Procreate.
  • Produce donor-facing decks, one-pagers, programme briefs, and visibility assets that communicate outcomes with precision and design sensibility.
  • Translate clinical and epidemiological data into accessible formats for non-technical stakeholders, including funders, government counterparts, and multilateral agencies.

Digital & Social Media

  • Design and support multi-platform social media campaigns aligned with programme milestones, advocacy moments, and organisational
  • Support in managing Jhpiego India's digital presence across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, and emerging platforms - with a consistent voice and brand standard
  • Use analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics, platform dashboards) to track engagement, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and iteratively improve
  • Explore AI-assisted content creation, immersive storytelling, and inclusive design approaches to expand reach and accessibility.

External Engagement & Donor Communications

  • Support preparation of communications for senior external audiences including maintaining an ambassadorial, professional register.
  • Contribute to event communication, including pre-event visibility, live coverage, and post-event dissemination for national and regional forums.
  • Coordinate with programme teams to surface stories of impact and translate them into publishable external assets.

Organisational & Internal Communications

  • Strengthen internal communications across Jhpiego India's programme teams, ensuring knowledge-sharing, learning, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Support development of learning ecosystem products - including toolkits, knowledge briefs, and training communication materials.
  • Contribute to implementation of Jhpiego India's communication strategy in alignment with country and regional priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters in Public Health or a related discipline; a clinical degree (MBBS, BDS, or allied health) alongside MPH is strongly preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in health communication, multimedia production, digital engagement, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in design tools: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Figma, and/or Procreate.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics platforms (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics).
  • Understanding of global health programming, health systems, and communication for development.

Desirable

  • Experience designing or supporting digital health interventions, pilots, or innovation programmes.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools, immersive media, or inclusive design
  • Exposure to donor communication standards in global health (Gates Foundation, USAID, Wellcome Trust, or similar).
  • Prior experience in an NGO, public health institution, research organisation, or communications agency.
