About YMCA Action Sports

YMCA Action Sports is a leader in driving the development of quality, youth-led action sports events across Australia. Through training workshops, school programs, coaching clinics, skate parks and leagues, the Action Sports team engage with the local councils to service each community most effectively. Built within the YMCA’s youth empowerment framework, our programs aim to engage, develop and showcase young people through a variety of different opportunities. Through skate parks, we provide a safe and supportive environment for young people to be active, involved, engaged and empowered. We believe that skate parks are an important part of our communities, particularly for young people. They serve as meeting points, where young people can socialize and enjoy their free time whilst being active and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

About the Role

As a Program Officer, you will deliver YMCA Action Sports programs and services and selected skate parks and school throughout Australia.

Working closely with the YMCA Action Sports operations team, you will be responsible for:

  • Deliver skate park-based programs and in-school programming
  • Creating a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, regardless of gender, age, skill level or socio-economic background
  • Accurately documenting participants and reporting incidents where necessary
  • Upholding the values of the YMCA at all times

This is a casual role with an hourly pay rate up to $31.18 + superannuation & Y Benefits.

About You

You will have a passion for all things skate, scoot and BMX, be outgoing and well spoken. With knowledge and experience in skate park culture, you will thrive working in a busy atmosphere, helping youth foster a sense of community in a fun environment in a public-facing and very hands-on role.

Mandatory Qualifications

These must be obtained and maintained as a requirement of continued employment:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Desirable Skills

  • Scoot, skate and/or BMX experience
  • Knowledge of, and experience with skate park culture
  • Youth work experience

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
