Join AVI’s Papua NewGuinea Team! We’re currently looking for a Program Officer to support the operations of the Australian Volunteers program in Papua New Guinea and Bougainville.

AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government. The Australian Volunteers Program supports skilled Australian volunteers to work alongside organisations to sustainably build the capacity of people, organisations and communities in various countries across the Pacific, Asia and Africa.

The Program Officer is responsible for providing high quality and proactive support to the Australian Volunteers Program in Papua New Guinea. The Program Officer contributes to a wide range of functions, including supporting Australian volunteers; developing partnerships with a wide range of organizations in Papua New Guinea; supporting partner organizations to develop volunteer assignments; and arranging workshops and other program activities.

Position Requirements

  • Formal administration qualifications or relevant, equivalent experience, in a similar position/s
  • Demonstrated experience supporting of international programs, preferably in a development context, including administration, finance and information management
  • A high level of competency and accuracy in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation packages.
  • Cross-cultural awareness, including an ability to work with people from varied cultural backgrounds
  • Sound knowledge of, and commitment to the underpinning values, goals and objectives of the Australian Volunteers Program (AVP)
  • Understanding of and commitment to AVI’s Vision and Values, Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Health & Safety, Child Protection and Privacy principles*

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
