Job Description

Serves as a coordinating partner for the Primary Stroke Center to assure compliance with accrediting body for stroke program.

Experience

Five years clinical experience. The individual must have proficiency with internet, email, data bases, and competency with nursing assessments. Clinical experience in neurology or neurosurgery preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse in the state of practice
  • BLS and ACLS required. ACLS can be within 6 months of hire.
  • Nurse certification for the care of the stroke patient with 5 years of hire preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as program manager for the Primary Stroke Center for the entity in which they are employed.
  2. This role routinely reviews and updates policies and procedures working with an interdisciplinary team.
  3. Collaborates with the regulatory department to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Interfaces with the hospital, Guthrie Medical Group, and community to meet certification requirements.
  5. Support the program medical director and stroke committee with establishing goals, lead teams with action planning, track improvement measures and report findings. Provides direct care and interactions with patients, families, and the care team to lead stroke care.
  6. Serves as an educator to patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure clinical outcomes are achieved. Operates as a leader for the stroke program performance improvement initiative.
  7. Coordinates efforts between providers, hospital administration, and staff while tracking progress of the Stroke Program and identifying areas requiring attention.
  8. Make presentations of stroke program information inclusive of monthly data measures, new policies, and regulatory changes. These presentations include the Stroke Committee, nursing leadership, administration and individual hospital units.

Other Duties

  1. Attend training seminars and conferences as required by stroke program.
  2. Advise department manager on resource utilization and training needs. Perform other duties as assigned by the director or manager or Vice President.
