The Program Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for OceanView’s Legacy Memory Care community. This position is responsible for creating an exceptional experience for residents, families, and employees through strong leadership, meaningful dementia programming, effective employee relations, and collaboration across departments.

The Program Manager will be a visible and approachable leader who builds trust, motivates employees, establishes clear expectations, and promotes a culture of respect, teamwork, communication, and accountability. This individual will also develop strong relationships with residents and families, monitor satisfaction, and ensure programming is person-centered and designed around each resident’s interests, history, abilities, and preferences.

Areas of responsibility include resident and family satisfaction, dementia programming, employee relations and development, daily operations, regulatory compliance, financial oversight, occupancy support, and facilities coordination.

This position generally works Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening, overnight, or weekend availability may be needed to support residents and employees. OceanView also values and supports a healthy work-life balance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide visible, consistent, and supportive leadership to the Legacy team.
  • Build strong employee relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Establish clear expectations and coach, recognize, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Address performance concerns, workplace conflict, and employee-relations matters promptly and professionally.
  • Participate in employee recruitment, orientation, training, performance evaluations, and retention efforts.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate meaningful, person-centered dementia programming.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents and families and respond thoughtfully to questions or concerns.
  • Monitor resident and family satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall experience.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Care Coordinator, nursing leadership, and direct-care employees to support resident care, safety, and service.
  • Participate in resident care planning within the Program Manager’s qualifications and professional scope of practice.
  • Coordinate with nursing, dining, housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to provide a consistent resident experience.
  • Oversee staffing coordination and support employees in managing priorities during staffing challenges.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate orientation, dementia-care education, professional development, and required training.
  • Promote compliance with applicable assisted-living and memory-care regulations.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual Legacy budget and responsibly manage expenses and resources.
  • Support occupancy through tours, community outreach, prospective-resident appointments, and coordination of new-resident evaluations.
  • Monitor the safety, appearance, and functionality of the physical environment.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Operations and other organizational leaders regarding staffing, programming, resident satisfaction, and operational needs.
  • Complete special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist with care as needed

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome candidates with professional education, licensure, or certification as a:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Recreation Therapist

Candidates with another closely related healthcare, therapeutic, human-services, or senior-living background may also be considered.

Additional qualifications include:

  • At least two years of experience in geriatrics, dementia care, assisted living, memory care, or a related setting.
  • At least two years of successful supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of dementia care and person-centered programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong employee-relations, communication, conflict-resolution, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.
  • Ability to develop productive relationships with residents, families, employees, healthcare providers, and organizational leaders.
  • Knowledge of residential care regulatory requirements, or the ability and willingness to develop that knowledge.
