Job Description

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
Older Adult Centers promote an active life of seniors. The centers aim to assist them to preserve their independence and health by offering various range of activities and services such as serving breakfast, lunch, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, class exercises, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, workshops, organized outings, and special events.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

The Program Manager is responsible for day-to-day administration and operation of the Older Adult Center ensuring a welcoming, supportive environment, quality services, and adherence to budget while meeting all contractual obligations. Program Manager is to establish strong liaisons with local health providers, NORC and other community organizations in order to ensure continuity of care and implementation of strategy for “aging in place” for seniors of the center.
• Create an environment where diversity of all ethnic older adult members is celebrated and respected
• Ensure quality programs, services and lunch to participants according to agency and funding source regulations
• Holds staff accountable for planning and implementation of quality service to clients, including food service management, provision of supportive services, and maintenance of sanitary, safety and health guidelines
• Ensure program and staff adherence to agency and contractual regulations
• Ensure fiscal accountability of program, including adherence to budget
• Prepare periodic written reports for Director of Field Operations to address the progress of direct services to clients, programmatic issues, service levels, staff issues, building problems, outreach efforts, and any other pertinent matters
• Responsible for site and incident reviews of client and staff
• Represent program at agency and community meetings and workshops

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, plus three years of experience in Human Service or Social Service field, and one year of supervisory /administrative experience preferably with the older adults
• Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
• Good written & oral and listening skills
• Experience working with the community and advocacy
• Experience with direct service provision to clients
• Prior supervisory or administrative experience required
• Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
• Ability to speak in front of large groups of people
• Ability to work flexible hours, according to the needs of program operation.
• Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs as needed or required.
