Job Description

We're building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space - and we're a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Program Manager to take full ownership of the DART hypersonic vehicle program. This is not a coordination role. You'll be the driving force behind delivery — keeping the
program aligned, unblocked and accelerating toward milestones with a cross-functional team spanning Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who owns outcomes, makes decisions at pace and keeps complex programs moving. You'll be the primary interface with DART customers and play a key role in shaping mission management execution as the program scales. If you thrive on
clarity, ownership and momentum, and you know how to navigate complexity without losing speed — this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities include:

  • Own end-to-end program delivery: scope, schedule, budget, risk, integration and supplier
    management.
  • Make day-to-day program decisions within agreed tolerances — escalate only when thresholds are exceeded.
  • Drive cross-functional execution across Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations.
  • Manage complex system integration across multiple suppliers, including contract and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for scope, priorities and schedule change control.
  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and blockers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Provide accurate, data-driven reporting using KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Serve as the primary program-level interface with DART customers — delivering clear,
credible updates on progress, risks and milestones.
  • Shape mission management execution, including how flight programs interface with customers
    and regulators.
  • Develop team capability and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.

This role will evolve as the DART program and Hypersonix scale.

Who You Are

We're a 50-person company moving fast in one of the most technically demanding fields in aerospace. the pace is fast, the expectations are high and our environment is constantly evolving. Priorities shift, processes are maturing and the path forward isn't always clear and some days you'll need to find it yourself. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.

You'll thrive here if you:

  • Own problems end-to-end without waiting for a complete picture
  • Hold technical rigour and program pace simultaneously — without sacrificing either
  • Lead by bringing people with you, not working around them
  • Stay solutions-focused when the ground shifts

To hit the ground running you’ll need:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
  • Program Management Expertise: Proven experience delivering complex technical programs in aerospace, defence, engineering or advanced manufacturing.
  • Strong project controls capability: scheduling, budgeting, risk management and contract administration.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace systems integration, hardware development and supplier coordination.
  • Commercial acumen: experienced in supplier negotiations and managing contractual obligations.
  • Reporting & metrics: Ability to maintain accurate program status using KPIs and performance indicators.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable security clearance or background checks.
  • Legal right to live and work in Australia.

Bonus points for:

  • Professional certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent).
  • MBA.
  • Experience with hypersonic systems, propulsion technologies or advanced composites.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance in aerospace or defence sectors.

Ready to Fly Faster?

If you're looking for your next big challenge in an environment that will push you and reward ownership, we'd love to hear from you. Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Equity participation
  • Flexible working – we care about output, not hours
  • A team doing genuinely world-class work.
  • Real ownership and influence from day one.
  • Funded Professional development
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program

About Hypersonix Launch Systems

Hypersonix Launch Systems builds and operates hydrogen-fuelled scramjet powered autonomous aircraft for a range of government, defence, aerospace, and commercial customers.

The first hypersonic flyer to launch is DART AE (Additive Engineering). DART AE is a 3.5 metre long hypersonic aircraft that is powered by a single SPARTAN scramjet engine and makes significant use of 3-D printed high temperature metal alloys. It uses hydrogen fuel and will fly at Mach 7.

The launch is part of the HyCAT program by the Defense Innovation Unit. Hypersonix was the first company to be selected for the program in March 2023, targeting a first launch for Q1 2026 in the United States.

Hypersonix is revolutionizing hypersonic flight technology with a cloud-based software-as-a-service digital twin. By combining extensive knowledge and data from atmospheric flight tests, this virtual replica accurately predicts real-world outcomes. It allows rapid and repetitive testing of materials, designs, manufacturing techniques and enables global 3D printing of components through secure additive manufacturing.

Hypersonix product road map also includes VISR, a high-speed suborbital Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and rapid airfreight flyer demonstrator as well as Delta Velos Orbiter for small satellite launch in a non-ballistic trajectory.
