Job Description

Manhattan Community Board 10 (CB10) seeks a Program Manager to coordinate the Board's communications, digital engagement, community outreach, and College Internship & Volunteer Program. The Program Manager will work closely with the District Manager, Board leadership and committees, City agencies, elected officials, community organizations, educational institutions, businesses, residents, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be an organized and effective communicator with strong writing, project management, digital communications, and community engagement skills who can manage multiple priorities in a public-sector environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Digital Engagement

  • Manage CB10's communications calendar, website, email communications, newsletters, social media, public notices, flyers, announcements, and other public-facing materials.
  • Maintain and update CB10's website using WordPress.
  • Draft, edit, proofread, and coordinate accurate and timely public communications.
  • Develop digital campaigns promoting Board meetings, hearings, surveys, events, programs, and civic participation.
  • Maintain digital content and communications archives and appropriately route public inquiries.

College Internship & Volunteer Program

  • Develop and manage a structured internship and volunteer program supporting CB10 communications and community engagement.
  • Recruit through partnerships with colleges, universities, and academic programs.
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, assignments, supervision, weekly deliverables, evaluations, and professional development.
  • Review intern and volunteer work for accuracy, professionalism, accessibility, and compliance before public distribution.

Community Engagement

  • Develop and implement community outreach plans to increase participation in CB10 activities.
  • Coordinate outreach at community events, public meetings, hearings, and neighborhood activities.
  • Build relationships with residents, schools, colleges, tenant associations, businesses, community and civic organizations, cultural institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop strategies to engage populations and neighborhoods that may not regularly participate in Community Board activities.

Board, Committee & Program Support

  • Attend Full Board and committee meetings as assigned and coordinate related communications and outreach.
  • Assist with meeting announcements, presentations, public hearings, flyers, talking points, resolutions, and other Board business.
  • Maintain work plans, calendars, project trackers, measurable objectives, and performance indicators.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the District Manager and recommend improvements to communication and engagement operations.

Responsibilities may be modified to meet CB10's operational needs consistent with applicable New York City rules, civil service requirements, and personnel policies.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
