Responsibilities
Manage and supervise field staff in the Syracuse Training Employment Funds office as they handle aspects of grants, education, training activities related to the promotion and delivery of high-quality education programs
Develop and maintain a wide array of relationships with key employer and union stakeholders as well as day-to-day decision making, oversight, development, and administration of innovative educational programming and partnership
Oversee efforts on marketing, outreach, and recruitment in the Syracuse area with guidance from Regional Director
Implement innovative cohort initiatives, assess employee and employer needs, and seek to align interests
Research and manage grant funded initiatives. To ensure maximum and efficient use of resources, while remaining within budget constraints and providing high quality service
Monitor adult education, professional, and workplace skills programs; manage educational vendors
Work closely with leadership to create strategic plan for the department: address issues in previous plans and action taken in solving them, identify best practices in the areas identified and see if those can be replicated within the department, and make sure that new processes are documented and all stakeholders informed.
Lead team through operational challenges such as change management, limited resources, increasing responsibilities, and occasional external/internal conflicts between staff
Perform special projects and assignments as directed by management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, education related fields, or labor/management work or equivalent years of experience required; Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing education or training programs for adult learners required; to include a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience required
Intermediate skill level of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred
Experience running programs in a labor-management environment and/or supervising adult education or health care workforce programs
Experience with managing budgets and accounting transactions required. Strong project management experience required.
Experience within healthcare sector or unions highly preferred
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and teamwork skills; able to maintain strong partnerships with Union partners in order to ensure training projects are implemented successfully
Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
Strong attention to detail, administration, and quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Flexible and able to work well under pressure, multi-task, establish priorities, and constructive program planning
Available to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends as required
