45% PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Manage multiple projects related to College of Science activities and student support activities funded through extramural sources, such as the National Science Foundation, Halliburton, and others
- Assist the Associate Dean with the development of project plans and resolution of issues pertaining to progress toward reaching project goals, including resource alignment to meet project objectives/goals
- Manage and communicate ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance.
- Participate in meetings virtually for projects to College of Science activities and student support activities funded through extramural sources, such as the National Science Foundation, Halliburton, and others
- Assist in the development and monitoring of contracts with vendors for projects related to CoS activities, including grants activities
- Monitor problems, provide solutions, and implement changes as necessary to ensure that timelines are followed
- Provide oversight and leadership on special and strategic projects, including science outreach, student leadership development, external engagement, staff development, and other related activities
- Collaborate and cooperate in a team environment, including the establishment of priorities, timelines, and processes, supporting the organization of faculty and staff training, performing data review and process improvement
- Assure timely completion of meetings and adherence to schedule, and track project related deadlines
- Prepare documents for the office as requested by the Associate Dean
- Problem solve with constituents on the Associate Dean’s behalf
20% FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
- Facilitate budget and contract approvals, budget monitoring and project spending on accounts for the Office for Academic Innovation and Engagement (~$200,000) and extramural grants (~$4,500,000)
- Manage paperwork processing, meeting coordination, design and implementation of project operations, utilization of data entry systems, grant financial tracking
- Manage office graduate assistant(s) and collaborate with College of Science personnel in meeting the goals and objectives of this office as it relates to the College’s Strategic Plan and the University’s Strategic Plan
- Monitor office, grants, and contract ledgers and the monthly reconciliation to determine real-time account balances and to identify and implement revenue, cost, and profit targets
- Act as Workday delegate, completing delegated business processes on behalf of the Associate Dean to include Expense Reports, Expense Transactions, Spend Authorizations, and other operations within Workday to support travel, purchasing, expenditures, and operational needs
15% COMMUNICATIONS
- Act as a central hub for communications within the team and key constituents.
- Facilitate collaborations of internal and external departments and partners
- Maintain a list of contacts with key stakeholders including university and external partners
- Lead communications regarding deadlines/opportunities to stakeholders
- Collaborate with the CoS Office of Communications in developing and sharing stories related to student and faculty success programs and activities
- Uphold a strict level of confidentiality, particularly related to student and personnel-related data & information.
15% COLLABORATE ON RETENTION AND STUDENT SUPPORT EFFORTS
- Identify and collaborate with stakeholders to manage the Office’s student development efforts and maintain student records for special programs
- Collaborate with stakeholders on the leadership of the SCI 1001 Freshman Seminar course by managing recruitment communications, hiring, and onboarding for the SCI 1001 Peer Mentors.
5% OTHER
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the Associate Dean of Academic Innovation and Engagement
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Science or Related Area
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a professional setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business, Public Administration, Leadership, Human Resources, Science or Related Area
- Experience developing and leading project/program operations preferred

The College of Science (CoS) consists of five academic departments and the Museum of Natural Science. The College offers seven majors, 20+ concentrations, and provides pre-medical and pre-dental advising services to any LSU student. With approximately 2,000 undergraduates, 500 graduates and 250 tenured faculty, the College of Science is a large research-based unit at the core of the LSU community. As an institution with very high research activity, the CoS offers valuable opportunities for students to work with world-renowned faculty, supportive staff, and excellent peers. This position will be responsible for performing a number of administrative and managerial duties and will facilitate positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and students within the College.
