About Heart Math Tutoring: Heart Math Tutoring (“HMT” or “Heart”) is a nonprofit based in Charlotte, NC with a mission of ensuring all elementary students develop the strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics needed for long-term success. HMT gives young students successful experiences in math through 1:1 tutoring during the school day, delivered by supervised volunteers. To date, 97% of Heart students have shown growth on pre/post assessments that meet goals set by elementary math specialists at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and 90% of teachers annually report that student confidence increases because of the program. About the Role: Program Manager, Charlotte: The Program Manager in Charlotte is responsible for program execution through leading program staff, providing direct, on-site support in schools, and meticulous planning and execution to ensure highest program quality and fidelity for student success. In addition, this person will have roles in selected program projects and support volunteer recruitment. Overall, the Program Manager will be a strong, positive contributor to Heart’s team, holding a high bar for excellence. This person must passionately inspire staff, volunteers, school leaders, and donors to act with urgency to ensure all students develop the strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics they need for long-term success. This position reports to HMT’s Senior Program Manager.
Job Responsibilities: Key responsibilities are listed below.
Program Management
Use data and strong instructional practices to support the academic growth of ~200-300 students across 4-6 HMT schools.
Manage a team of 4-6 direct reports at their assigned school sites with varying HMT delivery models, including Program Coordinators, Expanded Learning Program Coordinators, and Number Concepts Tutors.
Manage Heart’s relationship with School Leaders (Principal, Asst Principal, Lead Teachers, Math Facilitators) in your schools.
Represent Heart Math Tutoring among school-based partnerships in your schools.
Maintain and improve upon existing program operations.

We offer competitive compensation and anticipate this position’s starting salary to be $58,000-$63,000.

Heart Math Tutoring seeks to ensure that all elementary students develop a strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics by leveraging the powerful resource of volunteer time. Community members commit one hour per week to deliver an effective, hands-on curriculum in one-on-one tutoring sessions during the school day in Charlotte, Charleston, and Winston-Salem elementary schools.
Designed in partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Heart Math Tutoring provides a curriculum that targets conceptual gaps of students. Heart also provides an on-site coordinator to support volunteers, students, and school staff. Volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring twice per week.
