Pre-College Program Manager

Youth Education is seeking a passionate individual to join the team as the Pre-College Program Manager. The Pre-College Program holds summer programming for youth 14-17 years old to engage with the University of Utah through academics and student life experiences. This role will create pre-college curriculum through partnerships with the University support departments and engage with academic departments who will provide academic curriculum. This role will work alongside 3 other Youth Education Program Managers to reach Youth Education goals.

Responsibilities

Pre-College Program Manager

Program Management and Administration

  • Manage the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of Youth Education’s Pre-College programs.
  • Manage all aspects of program operations, including timelines, logistics, risk management, and participant experience.
  • Ensure programs align with Youth Education’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and operational standards that support safe, high-quality programming.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on assessment data, participant feedback, and emerging trends.
  • Prepare reports, track outcomes, and maintain accurate program records and documentation.

Academic and Campus Partnerships

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with University academic departments, faculty, staff, and campus partners in collaboration with the Youth Education Director.
  • Identify and cultivate new program partnerships that expand educational opportunities and strengthen pathways to higher education.
  • Facilitate communication between campus partners, families, participants, and Youth Education staff.

Residential and Program Development

  • Lead the development and expansion of Pre-College programming, including future residential and overnight experiences.
  • Research and implement best practices in pre-college, youth development, and residential education programming.
  • Design innovative programs that increase student engagement, college readiness, leadership development, and sense of belonging.
  • Support strategic planning efforts that enhance program quality, sustainability, and reach.

Staff Recruitment, Training, and Supervision

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal program staff.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive staff training focused on youth development, safety, customer service, inclusion, student support, and program outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance management for seasonal staff.
  • Foster a positive team culture that encourages professionalism, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and youth protection requirements.

Team Collaboration and Departmental Engagement

  • Serve as an active member of the Youth Education program team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Youth Education, Continuing Education, and campus departments to support shared goals and initiatives.
  • Participate in department planning, assessment, budgeting, marketing, and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and exceptional service.
  • Support department-wide programs and events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Manager, Program Management: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences

  • Ability to maintain and improve existing relationships with on-campus University of Utah partners and community partners.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to activities.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers and staff in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
  • Experience managing youth summer camps, preferably at an institution of higher education.
  • Experience developing pre-college programming for youth 14-17 years old.
  • Experience with Ideal-Logic and/or the ability to learn new tools quickly and operationalize them.
