JOB PURPOSE

As a Program Launch Buyer, you are responsible for managing purchasing activities within projects, with a strong focus on prototype procurement and early supplier involvement. You work closely with project teams, commodity purchasing, quality, engineering, and production to ensure that materials and components meet technical requirements, quality standards, timelines, and cost targets.

You will drive the purchasing process during the prototype phase and act as the purchasing representative in projects, ensuring supplier input is integrated early in product development. The role reports to the Supply Chain Manager and works in close collaboration with project managers and cross-functional teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer purchasing activities related to material procurement within projects
  • Drive the complete purchasing process in the prototype phase (RFQ, quotation analysis, order placement, order confirmation, and delivery follow-up)
  • Coordinate and manage prototype suppliers, including monitoring deliveries and performance
  • Represent purchasing and the supplier’s perspective in internal projects
  • Communicate prices, lead times, and supplier information to project teams
  • Ensure the purchasing-related part of the Bill of Materials (BoM), including prices and lead times
  • Collaborate closely with commodity purchasing, quality, engineering, and production to select appropriate suppliers
  • Involve serial suppliers early in projects to leverage expertise and support product development
  • Prepare and compile data for supplier selection based on internal and customer requirements
  • Handle manual purchase orders based on approved purchase requests
  • Administer drawings, new releases, goods receipts, and related purchasing documentation
  • Maintain and update the ERP system with relevant purchasing data
  • Stay updated on raw material matrices and applicable supplier agreements
  • Actively work with and develop the prototype supplier base
  • Identify and gather information to ensure the right material is purchased at the right time from the right supplier
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the department and the company

What We Are Looking For

You are structured, proactive, and comfortable working in a project-driven environment. You have a collaborative mindset and can balance commercial, technical, and quality considerations. You communicate clearly with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers and are confident in driving purchasing processes independently.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Experience in purchasing, preferably within a project or industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of procurement processes, including RFQ, supplier selection, and order management
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with suppliers on commercial topics
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple activities in parallel
  • Experience working in ERP systems
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with prototype purchasing and early supplier involvement
  • Knowledge of serial/commodity purchasing structures
  • Experience working with raw material agreements and supplier matrices
  • Background from automotive or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Swedish language skills
  • A background in product development is considered a strong merit, for example experience as a mechanical design engineer or similar, providing deeper technical understanding and insight into product development processes
  • Experience participating in or driving improvement initiatives
