The Program Generalist position at Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston is a full-time role that delivers high-quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events. This position fills in across Club program areas as needed to support programing and operational needs, and provides a safe, fun learning environment that enables a member to grow and develop into responsible adults. The position reports to the Program Director and/or Club Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Delivery and Support
- Utilize high-quality, developmentally appropriate BGCB core programs, activities, and events as directed by the Director of Operations or Program Manager.
- Engage and instruct youth in quality programming, including applying conflict-resolution skills and effective classroom and group-management practices.
- Demonstrate flexibility in supporting a variety of Club program areas based on programming and operational needs.
- Maintain safe, organized, and clean program area(s).
- Know safety emergency procedures and enforce all applicable rules and protocols to ensure safety of our youth and programs.
- Participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey.
Technical and Professional Knowledge
- Instruct youth in quality programming, including applying conflict resolution skills and best classroom and group management practices
- Apply knowledge of youth development principles in assigned club program areas.
- Secure and maintain materials, equipment and other resources belonging to program area(s).
- Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities as approved, provided or directed.
Communication, Collaboration, and Teamwork
- Utilize strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, youth, and parents/guardians/families.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and colleagues to develop and deliver high-quality programs and development opportunities for youth.
- Participate in collaborative programs, events and field trips with staff from different clubhouse groups and community organizations as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as specified by the Director of Operations or Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience providing recreation, enrichment, education, or youth development programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to youth learning and development principles.
- Ability to engage and instruct youth in a variety of program settings.
- Ability to multi-task, adapt to changing program needs, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Must be or become Current CPR/First Aid certified.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Flexibility to work clubhouse hours, especially as seasons and service needs change
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred
- Undergraduate degree or current enrollment in a degree program in education, human services, youth development, recreation, or a related field.
- Microsoft Office and web competency.
- Experience working across multiple youth program areas or disciplines.
TRAVEL
Travel between BGCB sites and to activities as needed.

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary - $21.00/hour - $25.00/hour - commensurate with experience; along with competitive benefits and a great work environment
