
San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking an exceptional leader to guide our Girls Volleyball program as Program Director and Varsity Head Coach. We are looking for a coach who brings energy, experience, and a deep commitment to developing student-athletes within a values-driven environment grounded in Inquiry, Care, Integrity, Agency, and Interconnection.

As Program Director and Varsity Head Coach, you will serve as the strategic and cultural leader of the Girls Volleyball program. You will oversee all levels of the program (Varsity and Junior Varsity), shaping a unified vision for player development, team culture, and competitive success.
This role goes beyond the court. It’s about building a program that reflects the best of high school athletics—where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Lead the Program
Set the vision and direction for Girls Volleyball, ensuring alignment across all levels and consistency in philosophy, standards, and expectations.
Design & Deliver High-Quality Practices
Plan and lead structured, engaging practices that develop technical skills, game strategy, and volleyball IQ in a progressive, age-appropriate way.
Build a Strong Team Culture
Foster an environment rooted in accountability, respect, and joy. Emphasize teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
Develop and Support Coaching Staff
Collaborate with and mentor assistant and JV coaches to ensure strong communication, continuity, and shared purpose.
Ensure Compliance & Safety
Adhere to all league, CIF, and NFHS regulations, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
Collaborate Across the Department
Work closely with athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and administrators. Communicate clearly with families and represent the program with professionalism.
Champion UHS Athletics
Embed the school’s mission and values into all aspects of the program, reinforcing the educational value of athletics.
Create an Environment Players Love
Build a program where student-athletes are excited to show up, compete, and be part of something meaningful.
Requirements
Experienced Coach
Background coaching at the high school, club, or collegiate level required. Collegiate playing experience is strongly preferred.
Program Leader
Experience leading teams or programs, managing logistics, and developing staff.
Volleyball Knowledge
Strong understanding of the game, including systems, player development, and in-game adjustments.
Student-Centered
Able to connect with and support high school athletes. Committed to mentorship and positive development.
Certified
CPR/First Aid certified and CIF Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Professional & Collaborative
Organized, communicative, and dependable. Approaches the role with integrity, humility, and a team-first mindset.
This is a seasonal, part-time position. Compensation ranges from $10,000 – $15,000, based on experience.
