About the Role:

Dungarvin is hiring a Program Director to lead our licensed Adult Day Program in Signal Hill, California.

This is an operations leadership role for someone who knows how to run a program, lead staff, create structure, and keep services moving in a busy, people-focused setting.

The Program Director oversees the full day-to-day operation of the program, including staff supervision, scheduling, documentation, compliance, program flow, safety, service quality, and team development.

This role is a strong fit for a leader who is visible, hands-on, organized, and confident leading from the floor.

What You'll Do:

As the Program Director, you will oversee the full operation of the Signal Hill Adult Day Program. Your work will include leading staff, supporting individuals served, keeping documentation and compliance on track, and creating a program culture where expectations are clear and staff feel supported.

You will:

  • Lead the daily operation of a licensed Adult Day Program
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop Direct Support Professionals
  • Create clear routines, expectations, and accountability for the team
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, attendance, payroll support, documentation, safety, and program flow
  • Oversee person-centered services, IPP goals, behavior support strategies, and skill-building activities
  • Support staff during behavioral situations and model calm, professional intervention
  • Partner with Regional Center, Community Care Licensing, families, residential providers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ensure compliance with Title 17, Title 22, licensing requirements, internal policies, and documentation standards
  • Maintain accurate program records, support audits, and lead quality improvement efforts
  • Oversee the program environment, facility needs, safety procedures, and daily readiness
  • Build a positive program culture based on communication, follow-through, dignity, and respect
  • Help develop engaging day program activities that support independence, life skills, and community participation

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a steady, direct, hands-on leader who can bring calm structure to a busy program.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has strong staff supervision and coaching experience
  • Can lead a team of 15+ employees in a hands-on environment
  • Knows how to build trust while still holding people accountable
  • Communicates clearly and follows through
  • Can make decisions and solve daily operational issues
  • Is comfortable working around behavioral needs and supporting staff through escalated situations
  • Understands the importance of documentation, licensing, and compliance
  • Can balance people, paperwork, program flow, and daily interruptions
  • Is visible in the program and willing to lead from the floor
  • Has experience in adult day programs, residential services, I/DD services, behavioral programs, crisis homes, Level 4 homes, vocational programs, community-based programs, or similar structured human services settings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must meet the qualifications for leadership in a licensed adult day program setting, including:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a human services delivery system
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory, management, or leadership experience in a human services setting
  • At least 2 years of experience or training in one of the following:
  • Care and supervision of individuals in an adult day program, adult day health care program, residential facility, group home, or similar human services setting
  • Care and supervision of individuals similar to those served in this program
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Experience supervising, coaching, training, or evaluating staff
  • Experience with documentation, service plans, behavior plans, structured programming, or goal-based supports
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds
  • Physician’s clearance and TB test clearance

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field such as Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Allied Health, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience in a licensed Adult Day Program
  • Experience working with Regional Centers and Community Care Licensing
  • Knowledge of Title 17 and Title 22
  • Experience with IPPs, ISPs, behavior support plans, or structured skill-building programs
  • Experience leading high-behavior, crisis, Level 4, EBHS, or similar programs
  • Experience managing program budgets, staffing ratios, audits, payroll, or quality assurance

Schedule

This is a full-time exempt position.

The program generally operates during daytime hours, but the Program Director must have flexibility to meet program, individual, staffing, and operational needs.
