The Director of Health & Well-being is responsible for the administration, program growth, and community awareness of the Health & Wellbeing programs. This includes but is not limited to the leadership of the Health & Well-being Center, Group Exercise, Personal Training, Medical Wellness & Special Populations, Partnership Program, Interns and Volunteers, and any other developmental programs or community health initiatives.
CORE EXPECTATIONS:
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Recruits, hires, trains, manages, develops, coaches, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Builds relationships with and among members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.
BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Plans and manages department budgets as approved in a fiscally responsible manner.
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Works with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities for members that are clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field is preferred
ACSM or ACE certified is required.
Effective teaching skills, the ability to deliver excellent customer service, and a high level of enthusiasm are required.
The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, parents, volunteers, community partners, and members are critical to this position.
Excellent communication skills
Technically proficient with the Microsoft office suite.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in fitness programming for members of all levels and abilities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
