Job Description

  • Provides strategic leadership, vision, and direction for Residential Education’s student success initiatives, residential community programs, and academic engagement efforts. Develops short- and long range strategic plans aligned with departmental priorities, Student Affairs goals, and university retention and persistence objectives. Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs and services that promote student learning, belonging, engagement, persistence, and graduation.
  • Directs the department’s assessment and evaluation efforts. Establishes student learning outcomes, program outcomes, and key performance indicators for residential community programs and student success initiatives. Utilizes quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate effectiveness, assess impact on student success metrics, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making. Prepares reports and recommendations for departmental and divisional leadership.
  • Provides leadership for residential community programs, faculty engagement initiatives to include the Faculty Fellow and Faculty-In-Residence programs, academic support efforts, residential curriculum implementation, and other high-impact educational practices. Ensures initiatives align with departmental educational priorities and contribute to student engagement, sense of belonging, academic achievement, leadership development, and persistence.
  • Establishes, strengthens, and sustains collaborative partnerships with academic colleges, faculty, Student Success units, Undergraduate Studies, Advising, Counseling, Dean of Students, and other campus stakeholders. Serves as the primary departmental liaison for initiatives supporting residential student persistence, retention, and academic success.
  • Provides supervision, leadership, and professional development for assigned staff. Establishes clear expectations, promotes accountability, supports staff growth, and fosters a culture of assessment, innovation, collaboration, and student-centered practice.
  • Leads strategic communication, marketing assistance and outreach efforts that promote student success initiatives and residential community programs. Collaborates with departmental staff and campus partners to increase student participation, awareness, and engagement.
  • Serves on departmental, divisional, and university committees. Represents Residential Education in institutional planning efforts related to student success, retention, persistence, and academic engagement. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and seven years of professional experience; or Master's degree and five years of professional experience.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
• Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
• SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
• A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
• (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
• (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
• (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
• (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
• (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
• Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree and 5 years of experience working directly with student success initiatives, preferably in housing. Individuals with experience in Themed, Living and Learning Community, and Residential Curriculum are encouraged to apply.
