Title: EMS Program Director and Assistant Professor - 12 month

The EMS Program Director is a full-time faculty member responsible for leading and managing the Emergency Medical Services programs. This role oversees the curriculum, ensures program quality, and monitors student academic and clinical progress. The director manages program resources, including budget, equipment, and lab safety, and collaborates with faculty, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising the master plan of education for the various Emergency Medical Services programs.
  • Coordinating the development, implementation, and revision process for the various programs’ curriculum design; including but not limited to, course descriptions, course requirements, and evaluation systems.
  • Developing a program evaluation plan to ensure ongoing effectiveness through outcomes assessment of quality indicators addressing both student learning outcomes and program outcomes for the various programs.
  • Ensuring the campus laboratory is safe and effective.
  • Monitoring student academic and clinical performance and progression.
  • Collaborating with the clinical coordinator and representatives of clinical affiliates to ensure availability of clinical experiences.
  • Preparing and maintaining the program budget within established parameters as needed for the program.
  • Overseeing the evaluation, maintenance, selection, and purchase of educational materials and equipment to meet the needs of the program.
  • Collaborating with other EMS faculty to address the needs of students and program assessment.
  • Assisting in the process of interviewing, selecting, and mentoring faculty (full-time and/or part-time).
  • Ensure that preceptors for clinical and capstone field experiences are oriented, mentored, and monitored.
  • Counseling and advising prospective and current students.
  • Serving as a liaison between the program and affiliates/community stakeholders.
  • Assisting in reviewing clinical affiliation agreements as needed.
  • Preparing annual reports for the Dean, college representatives, and other agencies as needed.
  • Pursuing ongoing education in the discipline, instructional delivery, and management, and maintain professional competency.
  • Collaborating with others to create a positive learning environment.
  • Coordinating and directing the procedures required to achieve and maintain program accreditation, as applicable.
  • Planning and coordinating Advisory Board meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of B.S. Degree granted by an agency recognized by the US DOE is required with master’s degree or higher preferred.
Experience in prehospital emergency care – minimum of three (3) years.
Documented education or experience in instructional methodology.
Prior administration experience to include a minimum of two (2) years in EMS educational administration.
Current licensure in TN as a paramedic with endorsement as program director or ability to obtain TN licensure and/or endorsement prior to employment. Licensure must be free from history of revocation, denial, or suspension.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards.
Current endorsement in a TN EMS Board approved trauma, cardiac, and pediatric course at the provider level.
Current CPR for HealthCare Providers.
