Job Description

The Summer Academic Bootcamp Program Coordinator will oversee the coordination and evaluation of a summer academic mentoring program serving rising college students prior to the start of their first academic year. The program introduces aspiring health sciences students to foundational academic concepts, university resources, and supportive mentoring relationships that promote successful transition into college life and the development of skills that support academic success. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with faculty to solicit finalized curricular materials, organize field trips and experiential learning opportunities, ensure high-quality program delivery, and begin the process of program evaluation. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, experience in student support or academic enrichment programs, a background in the health sciences, and experience with collecting and analyzing data.

This role is primarily on-campus, with the requirement to be on campus daily during the two-week summer program. Some evening or weekend commitments for program activities will be required. The person selected for this role may also supervise student assistants or upper class “near peers.” This position is funded by a foundation grant and reports to the Dean of the Center for Research and Discovery. The tentative dates of employment for this position are mid-April through end of August 2026.

Program Coordination and Implementation:

  • Coordinate panels, focus groups, and lunch sessions for program participants.
  • Facilitate orientation sessions, community-building activities, and enrichment workshops designed to strengthen student readiness for college.
  • Implement evidence-based activities to assist with students developing skills that are known to result in positive academic outcomes.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students, mentors, and administrators throughout the spring and summer to ensure engagement and support.

Faculty Collaboration and Curricular Coordination:

  • Support faculty in aligning instructional content with program learning outcomes and high impact learning practices.
  • Assist with the organization and distribution of academic materials through Blackboard.
  • Ensure all program components are in alignment with the allotted timeline established for all stages of the program.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions team for recruitment and enrollment of program mentees.

Administrative and Logistical Management:

  • Manage the program calendar, attendance tracking, and evaluation processes.
  • Coordinate logistics for classroom sessions, events, and online learning components.
  • Ensure all components are in alignment with the program budget and prepare expenditure and progress reports.
  • Support the Office of Residence Life in assisting student residents during the two-week summer program.
  • Serve as the central contact for student, faculty, and administrative inquiries related to the program.

Assessment and Continuous Improvement:

  • In collaboration with key leaders, develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate program impact and the student participant experience.
  • Prepare reports summarizing student progress and program outcomes.
  • Use evaluation findings to recommend strategies for program improvement and sustainability.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum attainment of a master’s degree in a health sciences discipline or a closely related field.
  • Specialized training or demonstrated expertise in health sciences-related education or curriculum coordination.
  • Experience working with students in higher education or pre-college academic programs.
