The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.
We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive.

H-GAC, the fiscal agent for the Gulf Coast Workforce Board (GCWB), is striving to expand the reach of the region’s public workforce system to more employers and more people through targeted projects and the growth of systemwide learning and training initiatives. To support this effort, we are seeking a Program Coordinator – Professional Development to join the Workforce Solutions team within our Human Services department.

While the position includes facilitation of foundational and specialized trainings, the primary focus is on supporting, guiding, and strengthening provider-led professional development efforts to ensure alignment with Board expectations, professional development and training guidelines, and systemwide standards.
This role blends training coordination, facilitation, and collaboration. You will deliver select instructor-led and virtual trainings, coordinate logistics and communication for professional development activities, and provide technical assistance to staff in the field. You will help ensure professional development activities across the region are consistent, compliant, and impactful by monitoring alignment with PD and training guidelines, identifying gaps and strengths, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. You will also support content development by contributing to job aids, facilitator guides, and training materials aligned with adult learning principles.
