Job Description

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a seeking full-time Program Coordinator of Workforce Development responsible for ensuring high quality programming of our employment services. This position provides oversight of our career coaches, overall employment programming, and grant funder requirements. This person will be committed to achieving programmatic goals, assisting clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and work independently as well as collaboratively alongside our Adult Education and Transitions Teams. This is a hybrid in-person and remote position after the initial training period.

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based organization, dedicated to fostering the integration of the Pan-Asian immigrant and refugee community into U.S. culture. Established in 1981, CMAA has been a cornerstone of the Uptown community since then, providing programming for generations of youth, adults, and senior citizens. The Adult Education and Workforce Department provides English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, Contextualized Healthcare Literacy Bridge, Office/Administrative Technology Literacy Bridge, and Digital Literacy classes; and assists clients with transitioning into the workforce and further education, through workshops and individualized counseling.

Job Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Workforce is responsible for the following:

  • Supports career coaches with comprehensive client orientation, assessment, and services while managing a small caseload of clients
  • Quality control of Workforce Program by monitoring client data and referrals, preparing detailed reports for funders, and identifying necessary client support services
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with business owners, hiring managers, educational institutions, as well as with other stakeholders and community partners to promote CMAA services and clients
  • Representing CMAA’s workforce programming at community events and meetings
  • Monitor client and employer satisfaction and follow up as needed
  • Monitor client data and referrals for accuracy and improvement; maintain detailed case files in databases
  • Supports Salesforce development for the Workforce department
  • Collaboration with internal CMAA departments, including the Small Business Development Center on joint programming
  • Collaborates with management on opportunities and implementation for program growth
  • Trains and supervise workforce programs volunteers and interns
  • Outreach to potential new employers
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Key Competencies

We’re seeking candidates who are passionate about working with immigrant communities, are strong communicators, and excel in relationship building. You should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to meeting a high bar and a strong interest in working with a limited English proficient population
  • Experience managing multiple projects and a demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member, cooperating with and demonstrating cultural sensitivity to staff and constituents
  • Experience using databases preferred
  • Experience with vocational & employment placement preferred
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus but not required
