About Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service - El Paso County

AgriLife Extension is a unique education agency with a statewide network of professional educators, trained volunteers, and county offices. It reaches into the El Paso County to address local priority needs. Extension values and promotes principles of citizen and community involvement, scientifically based education, lifelong learning and volunteerism. It works cooperatively with the 12 universities and 8 state agencies of the Texas A&M University System and other state and local agencies to bring the necessary resources to El Pasoans that will address local issues and solve local problems.

Some of our major efforts are in mitigating drought impacts; conserving water use in homes, landscapes, and production agriculture; improving emergency management; enhancing food security; and protecting human health through education about diet, exercise, and disease prevention and management.

Position Information

The El Paso County Extension Office is seeking a Program Coordinator II responsible for coordinating educational programs, communicating with participants and clients, and ensuring the smooth operation of all program-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Educational program coordination: Plans and organizes various educational programs, including workshops, seminars, and training sessions, ensuring that all logistical arrangements are in place.

  • Participant and client communication: Serves as the primary point of contact for participants and clients, addressing inquiries, providing information, and resolving any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner. Develops and updates training materials.

  • Data collection and reporting: Collects relevant data related to program participation, outcomes, and feedback, and accurately reports this information to the online database.

    Assists in establishing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Assists with establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning.

  • Data sharing: Collaborates with other staff members to share program data and insights, facilitating informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Utilizes data to identify new and expanded programs.

  • Participant/Internship site coordination: Works closely with participants to identify suitable internship opportunities, facilitates placements, and ensures a positive experience for all parties involved. May supervise program staff at these sites.

  • Budget and fiscal responsibilities: Is responsible for daily fiscal and purchasing activities and assist in preparation and monitoring of budget for programs and events. Helps to identify additional funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Life Sciences, Agriculture or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Familiarity with online databases and basic MS Office.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Life Sciences, Agriculture, or related field.

  • Proven experience in program coordination or similar roles, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
