This temporary position is located at 3921 Old Holly Springs - Wake County.  This position is assigned to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

Management Preferences:

  • The range safety officer (Program Coordinator) must supervise and promote safe shooting activities and range operations for all patrons.
  • The range safety officer will also ensure that the facility and range equipment are maintained at the highest standards as set by senior staff.
  • The range safety officer must have extensive knowledge of firearms of all types and their operation as they may be called upon for assistance.
  • The range safety officer is authorized to close the range or temporarily cease activity at any time should safety concerns warrant such or the site is in need of maintenance.
  • The range safety officer is also authorized to require patrons to leave the range if they violate range rules or otherwise pose a threat to others.

Job Duties:

  • The duties for the range safety officer include ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor activity on the shooting lanes at all times.
  • C all ranges “hot” and “cold” as needed
  • A ssist patrons with appropriate range equipment instruction.
  • K now and follow emergency response plans when required.
  • M aintain and repair range facility and grounds including litter pick up, target stand repair, and general range clean up.
  • Complete daily safety briefs for the shooters, as well as greeting the public as they arrive to shoot.
  • Maintain a productive relationship with established customers.
  • A ttend training as required.
  • Work as a team player with all staff.
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with everyone.
  • M aintain a well-groomed professional appearance at all times.
  • Adhere to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
