This position is in the Motor Carrier Services Processing Unit, at SCDMV Headquarters, Blythewood, SC.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Office Supervisor III

  • Assistant Office Supervisor III (AOS III) will help with supervision of the daily processing of Motor Carrier Services (MCS). Report to the office Supervisor III or other senior managers as needed. Will be the liaising between the Office Supervisor III and other employees. Aid with hiring and training new employees. Develop training materials and conducting training sessions and workshops. Monitor both individual and team job performance metrics.
  • Manages and tracks improvement plan Review and spot check daily work processed by Motor Carrier Processing Specilist (MCPS) for accuracy. Completes weekly recaps on areas where MCS is excelling or needing improvement/ growth. Relay productivity concerns to the Office Supervisor. Prepare daily work schedules. Assist with other administrative tasks, when required.
  • Assist with preparing the deposit daily and update daily reports. Maintains call trackers, new account tracker, refund tracker and other trackers associated with Motor Carrier Processing. Responsible for keeping daily report to submit to manager for month end reports.
  • Conducts transactions of Motor Carrier Services. Performs MCS transactions for all specialized programs (i.e., IRP, IFTA, UCR, etc.), interstate and intrastate CMV's, including but not limited to title work, new IRP/IFTA accounts, reinstatements, renewals, add, transfers, add w/transfer, delete vehicles, HVUT tax, IFTA tax returns, amendments, and decals, IRP/IFTA inventory, and other non-routine transactions. Maintains weekly productivity goal.
  • Process PRISM USDOT discrepancies and FMCSA out of service reports; reviews error reports and makes corrections to support a report of Good Standing with FMCSA; Process IFTA suspension for non-filers; Update account status and report suspended, closed, revoked, and reinstated accounts and clear heavy use tax suspensions. Other reporting as needed in the advancement of MCS Programs, FHWA/IRS, and FMCSA/PRISM requirements.
  • Performs other duties as required by the Processing Manager and Chief of MCO.

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

Agency Requirements

  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.

  • Extensive knowledge of office management policies, practices and procedures and ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying same.
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities effectively and independently.
  • Ability to train other employees and deal courteously and effectively with the public both orally and in writing.
  • Under minimal supervision, independently directs, performs, and supervises customer transactions.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and to maintain confidentiality of files and records.
  • Must display professional proficiency in all areas of job performance and possess good management skills.
  • Works in general office environment.
  • May be required to work extended hours outside of the normal scheduled work week.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years related job experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services.
