Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator I:

Supports statewide efforts to promote adoption of legally free children in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Coordinates photo shoots, recruit's volunteers, supervises interns, and organizes promotional events to ensure all eligible children are featured in the Heart Gallery. Maintains web and social media content, captures and prints promotional photos, and tracks statewide exhibit locations and active child profiles in a centralized spreadsheet.

The employee will work under minimal supervision, exercising independent decision-making and problem-solving skills under the general guidance of the South Carolina Heart Gallery Program Manager. Demonstrates knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the South Carolina Heart Gallery and the broader child welfare system. Exercises sound judgment and discretion while building effective working relationships. Proficient in website administration and photo editing software.

  • Collaborates with DSS and FCRD to identify legally free children across South Carolina to participate in Heart Gallery photo shoots. Identifies and coordinates photo shoot locations and recruit's volunteers. Participates in monthly Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) meetings to support permanency planning discussions.
  • Coordinates the printing, distribution, and public display of photographs for exhibits and social media platforms to promote adoption for legally free children across South Carolina.
  • Collaborates, communicates, and interacts professionally with children, DCA staff, and external partners to fulfill the agency's mission and uphold its professional standards.
  • Maintain and administer the centralized Inquiry tracking system for legally free children and exhibit locations throughout the State of South Carolina.
  • Provides operational support to the South Carolina Heart Gallery by supervising assigned interns and coordinating individual porch photo shoots for children unable to attend scheduled group sessions.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.

Examples of duties

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience or an equivalent combination or education and experience may be considered with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR).

Additional Requirements:

  • Position may require overnight travel.
  • Position may require the employee to work evenings and weekends.
  • Position requires routine driver duties.
  • Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
  • Position requires essential declaration.
  • This job will require travel throughout the state.
  • The applicant must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and reliable vehicle and must be able to drive independently throughout the state.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
