Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day operations support to team members throughout the planning, implementation and delivery of programs, and may serve as first point of contact for the unit.

Duties may include:

  • Serving as primary contact with program participants, customer service and office support functions
  • Facilitating communication between program participants and managerial staff
  • Coordinating arrangements for the program such as meetings, conferences and banquets
  • Collecting, compiling and summarizing program data and managing records
  • Maintaining program calendars and schedules
  • May utilize University programs to create, review and approval financial documents, and to provide routine financial reports to the program administrator
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Three years performing administrative, office and/or program support functions

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Other

  • Ability to work nonstandard hours, including evenings and weekends, to support programs, events, meetings, and other 4-H activities
  • Ability to travel to Extension offices, program sites, schools, camps, fairs and other work locations as required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to meet requirements for driving university vehicles

Additional Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Youth Development, or a closely related field; or four years of professional experience in youth development
  • Experience with 4-H Youth Development or other positive youth development programs
  • Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs, classes, trainings or workshops
  • Experience collaborating with others to achieve shared goals
  • Experience with program marketing, communications and promotion
  • Experience with fundraising and resource development
  • Experience recruiting, training, organizing and supervising volunteers
  • Experience with livestock and/or horse educational programming
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and effectively present information to youth and adult audiences
  • Experience composing, proofing and editing a variety of documents, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
  • Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, email and internet research

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move programming supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings
