About the position:

The KWY Kinship Care Program assesses, trains, advocates and supports both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Kinship Carers who care for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and young people who have been placed with family by the Department for Child Protection (DCP). The program aims for children and young people to feel safe and supported, we do this by supporting Kinship Carers to connect children to their Culture, Kinship system, Community and Identity,
empowering them to reach their full potential.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing direct support and clinical expertise
to Practitioners within the Kinship Care Program. The Program Coordinator is a highly skilled and experienced worker with dedicated and proven leadership skills who can demonstrate a high level understanding of complex case management.

You will work closely with the Senior Manager and Director on assessing and allocating Kinship
Support and Assessment referrals, meeting contractual and internal KPI’s, contributing to reporting, including reporting any emerging issues and trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Senior Manager/Director in the development of relevant
    work. Including completing assigned duties and tasks on time and to a high standard, displaying a commitment to open communication and taking responsibility for own work.
  • Provide line supervision and develop professional development plans with Practitioners. Including identifying gaps and training needs and providing coaching and support to
    Practitioners.
  • Monitor individual and team performance in line with contracted and internal KPI’s.
    Including assisting in producing monthly and quarterly reports as per the Program contract requirements.
  • Assess risk, provide clear and accurate case direction and support to Practitioners in the
    Program.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment, including setting team goals and norms.
  • Work collaboratively with KWY staff and consumer groups and services within the Out
    of Home Care sector. Including building relationships with key stakeholders,
    attending sector meetings and establishing and maintaining open and effective
    communication lines with stakeholders and management.

About you:

The successful applicant will possess extensive skills, experience, and knowledge to support Aboriginal children and young people in the Out of Home Care sector. The applicant will be highly driven with previous case management experience in the field of Child Protection and Out of Home Care with a minimum of 5 years of experience in this sector. The applicant will have demonstrated
experience in working with Aboriginal families, as well as Aboriginal organisations and Communities.

Job requirements:

  • ·Minimum Certificate IV in Child,Youth and Family Intervention or relevant experience in Out of Home Care.
  • You must hold a current South Australian Driver's license or a license which permits you to drive in South Australia.
  • The applicant must be willing to travel intrastate and interstate involving overnight absences, including the requirement to fly on smaller planes and drive extensively in regional areas of South Australia.
  • Successful candidates will be required to hold and maintain probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance), Working with Children Check (applicants need to hold a current WWCC to apply).
